Another way to where the top would be with a pair of jean, Bermuda shorts, tight fitting (ones that stop right above the knee). I never wear skinny jeans, and most of my jeans are boot cut. I wear tunics all of the time and I think it looks fine.
Everyone keeps saying it won’t work, but before skinny jeans were trendy, that’s all they would’ve worn under a tunic because it was trendy at the time.
